without comments

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 egg
4 yolks, 4 egg whites
2 cup almonds, nuts
1 cup flour
4 Tablespoons orange juice
2 Tablespoon orange zest

Beat egg whites till stiff, set aside
Mix remaining ingredients and mix till blended
gently fold egg whites into mix

Bake at 375 ~30 minutes or until knife inserted into middle comes out clean
do not over bake or it will be dry

I frost this with a ganache ( melt 4 oz chocolate with 4 oz heavy cream then pour over cake )

Almonds are the US’s largest horticultural export. Ancient Romans showered newly weds with almonds to signal fertility.

Grandma’s Whipped Cream Cake

without comments

Whip 1 cup heavy cream until firm
Add 2 egg yolks and beat until foamy
Add 1 tsp vanilla
Add 1 cup sugar

Beat well

Sift together
1 1/2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
pinch salt

Fold into whipped cream

Beat the 2 egg whites until stiff and fold into whipped cream
Bake ~30 minutes at 350′

Notes: This works well doubled. I layer frozen fruit in a 9×13 pan then the doubled recipe on top. I only use 1 cup of sugar when I double the recipe. Also I beat the egg whites and sugar till stiff, add the cream beat till stiff, then fold in the remaining ingredients.
