Easy Chocolate Fudge
Fudge first showed up in the 1830s when it was discovered in America, by accident, during a toffee catering lecture. Other sources attribute it to the Vassar Women’s College in 1905.
This recipe is easy enough to let your children try their hands at making fudge.
In a saucepan combine:
18 oz (~3 cups) of chocolate (candy bars, or chips etc)
1 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk
dash of salt
Melt this over a very low heat, stirring continuously.
add 1 1/2 tsp of vanilla flavoring
Add-ins: ( optional )
1/2 cup to 1 cup of crushed nuts
1/2 to 1 cup of peanut butter chips
or 3 tablespoons of raspberry or strawberry jam.
Pour mixture into a very well oiled glass pan, 9×13 for thick fudge, and cool about 3 hours
